Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board 1890 includes the text of the 2004 Thomas B. Deen Distinguished Lecture by Richard O. Jones, “Context-Sensitive Design: Will the Vision Overcome Liability Concerns?” Also, this volume examines dynamic actions on bridge slabs from a heavy vehicle’s impact on roadside barriers, attributes and amenities of highway systems important to tourists, characteristics of snowmelt runoff from highways in the Tahoe Basin and the treatment investigations for improving runoff quality, issues in automating utility permits at transportation agencies, and more. The papers contained in this volume were among those presented at the 83rd Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board in January 2004.
