Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2025 includes 14 papers organized in four parts. Part 1, roadside safety design, examines a guardrail for long-span culverts; steel post, W-beam guardrail systems; low-tension three-strand cable median barriers; and a guardrail W-beam-to-Thrie-beam transition. Part 2, landscape and environmental design and context-sensitive design and solutions, explores road design in small rural communities; a model for freeway green landscape evaluation; context-sensitive solutions, value engineering and asset management; integrating value engineering, and context-sensitive solutions; use of context-sensitive methods to influence operating speeds; and mainstreaming context-sensitive design in Massachusetts. Part 3, hydrology, hydraulics, and water quality, examines particle separation and hydrologic control by cementitious permeable pavement, abutment scour prediction equations, and porous asphalt overlay impact on storm water quality. Part 4, utilities, contains one paper that reviews outsourcing utility coordination. (Author/publisher)
