Abstract
Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board 1827 addresses the integration of preventive pavement maintenance, the development of a structural condition index to support rehabilitation decisions, and the use of robotic machines for highway crack sealing. This issue also provides research findings on structural maintenance, including the implementation of virtual reality in routine bridge inspection, and considers the vulnerability of highways, bridge overpasses, and steel bridge beams to terrorist attacks. The papers contained in this volume were among those presented at the 82nd Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board in January 2003.
