Abstract

These notes have been especially prepared for a short course in Highway Safety, presented by the Institute of Transportation and Traffic Engineering and University of California Extension. They bring together a variety of highway-design and traffic-engineering procedures which are especially important to the prevention of accidents or to mitigation of their effects, and they cover standards and other matters pertinent to those aspects of current safety programs for which street and highway engineers have principal responsibility.
