Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2148 contains 14 papers that explore the full Bayes approach to before-and-after safety evaluation with matched comparisons, the impact of rumble strips on collision reduction, logistic models in crash severity classification, county-level crash risk analysis, safety performance dispersion parameters for two-lane rural roads, ordinal discrete choice analyses of cross-median crash severities, and model-based applications of Abbreviated Injury Scale to police-reported crash injuries. This issue of the TRR also examines an evaluation of trauma management performance, mechanisms by which exposure influences accident occurrence, property damage crash equivalency factors to solve crash frequency–severity dilemma, electronic crash data collection transmission model, crash generation models, fatality risk of intersection crashes on rural undivided highways, and an implementation road map for in-vehicle safety systems.
