Abstract
A new highway safety program standard to improve the safety of bicyclist has been proposed by the U.S. Department of transportation. The proposed standard would be implemented by the states and would apply to persons operating bicycles, tricycles, and other wheeled, pedal-powered vehicles. The Federal Highway Administration is responsible for special bicycle lanes and paths, as well as highway traffic controls.
