Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board 1830 highlights efforts to improve highway safety, including boosting seat belt use in Hawaii, speed limit enforcement cameras in the District of Columbia, and automated enforcement of red-light running. It also examines restraint use -- by age and gender -- for persons involved in fatal motor vehicle crashes, the safety effects of differential speed limits on rural interstate highways, and the methodology for estimating vehicle miles traveled for commercial motor vehicles. The papers contained in this volume were among those presented at the 82nd Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board in January 2003. For abstracts of some of the papers see C 32797 - C 32806.
