Abstract

The vehicle simulation programs considered are reviewed in three areas (1) the tyre model, which dictates the range of validity of the solution to directional response analysis and the usefulness of the simulations for combined braking and turning manoeuvres; (2) special features such as algorithms allowing impact with outside objects; and (3) documentation. In addition a short history of each program is presented, along with a prognosis for further improvement.
