Abstract

In Rotterdam, The Hague and Amsterdam 798 persons at locations answered a questionnaire on the subject of noise nuisance. The questionnaire was particularly concerned with trams, but also included questions on road traffic noise and overall noise nuisance. The research was carried out in the following categories of locations-bends stops, crossings, reserved tracks and depot areas. The relationship between the equivalent A-weighted 24 hour level and non-specific noise nuisance was found to vary in the case of both bends /crossings and reserved tracks. The same was found to apply to specific noise nuisance.
