Abstract

There are many circumstances which may prompt a person to commit a hit-and-run-offence. Drunken driving and driving without insurance are of importance in this respect. Moreover, it seems that persons are more likely to commit the offence in poor visibility or darkness. As regards the personality of the hit-and-run offender, it was found that persons 41 years and over commit the offence more readily than persons in other age groups.
