In this paper a notion is given for a more strategic approach of the problem of the Paris-Amsterdam High Speed Train connection (the `South HST'). In a number of studies first of all attention is given to the trace of the line. However, tracing out of the line should be the result of an approach, where successively the function, the section of nodes and the selection of links is figured out. Finally, some attention is given to the location of stopping places within the selected nodes. (A)
