Abstract

COST supports trans-European co-operations in technical and scientific research, inter alia, on transport issues. Currently, 35 countries of the European Union and beyond bring together nationally funded research projectsin specific COST Actions to generate an added value. COST contributes by supporting e.g. meetings, workshops, and conferences, as well as, the dissemination of the results to political decision makers and public outreach activities. The nature of these "COST Actions" is inherently European and beneficial to the revival of the Lisbon process. Therefore, COST Actions apply harmonized regulations and a joint policy of public concern regardingdesirable newly emerging or multidisciplinary scientific topics. COST is based on peer-reviewed bottom-up proposals for new COST Actions, while guaranteeing equal access to researchers. For further information please consult the home page of the COST Office: http://www.cost.esf.org/ .
