Abstract

The developments that have transpired as a result of the author's redesigning of several types of suspension confirms his belief that suspension design plays a major role in the behaviour of trailed vehicles. It was previously considered that trailer suspension should be extremely firm in order to achieve stability but it can be proven that provided the correct axle geometry is maintained, very soft suspension with 150 mm ("6) of wheel travel can be used to promote stability.
