Abstract

Starting from the demand of the potential user, an initiative of user associations, industry, service providers, public transport companies and scientists have developed a new set of services. The aim is to provide the customer with exactly that sort of transport he or she is looking for, at reasonable prices and on short notice. The provider of this service, the new "mobility provider", is an intermediary between the customer and the different transport companies. Individual modes of transport are not excluded. The solutions of real time information on traffic situations and of intermodality problems have to be solved by the mobility provider, making use partly of the already existing information infrastructure and partly of new instruments still under development. The intention is not a single mobility provider in the region, but several competing ones. They would sell their services either directly to the final user by means of telecommunication or online - or else via mobility stations. For the realisation of this concept a common initiative including administration and politics had to be formed. A lean project management assures the cooperation and efficiency of the process.
