Abstract

In this paper different approaches n theries on human visual information processing are discussed. Basic viewpoints are presented which originate from psychology as well as from current human engineering research. With fespect to the approaches from psychology, the classical doctrine is considered as being the most representative. In this doctrine it is assumed that conceptual knowledge plays a dominant role in the realization of the visual image.
