Abstract

A model of the pneumatic tyre is developed to explain the production of shear forces under different operating conditions and to serve as a mathematical representation of the tire in computer simulation of motor vehicle performance. The paper is concerned with the shear force output of a tyre undergoing combined lateral and longitudinal slip motions. Simplified computer block diagrams are presented and some typical results are discussed.
