Abstract

A wide ranging and laterally thinking investigation into the kinds of policy issues that may need to be confronted and resolved if part of the implementation of a sustainable land transport system is to convert to a hydrogen based fuel system. What can we learn from the CNG experience, what effect will the potential for distributed generation of hydrogen have on the electrical distribution system, how does this interface with wind energy, what will need to be done to HAZNO to cope with distributed and mobile storage of hydrogen, what are the implications for the emergency services, what could be required in the fuel pricing structure, what planning issues are raised by the need to convert service stations?
