Abstract

The objective of this research effort was the identification of those roadway features and roadside appurtenances that influence the frequency and / or severity of the single-vehicle accident on the rural, two-lane highway system in Ohio. Relationships were developed between the single-vehicle accident rate and those roadway features or parameters that describe the physical characteristics of the highway and those roadside features and objects that exist beyond the travelled roadway.
