Abstract

The University of Saarland Institute for Forensic Medicine (Institut für Rechtsmedizin, Universität des Saarlandes) in Germany has developed a police personnel training programme for the Federal Roads Institution. The aim of this training programme is to enable the participants to recognize more readily drivers who are under the influence of drugs or medicines. As a multiplying factor the participants will pass on their knowledge in a condensed form to their colleagues. The programme consists of 32 teaching units with the emphasis on production of suspicion, securing evidence, and knowledge of the substances. There were trials with 3 pilot courses and a start will be made not later than the 3rd quarter of 1997. (A)
