Abstract

The state of road safety on the national roads in Poland is presented. The methods of identification and location of highly dangerous sections, i.e. 1 km sections with at least four accidents a year in at least four to five consecutive years, are discussed. The hazard density rate, i.e. number of dangerous 1 km sections with at least four accidents a year on 100 km of roads is presented.
