Abstract

According to a new study that relates test ratings to fatality risk in real world crashes, test ratings are a good indication of how vehicles will actual perform in an actual head-on collision. Researchers found that drivers of vehicles with a "poor" rating based on performance in frontal offset crash tests are much more at risk of dying in an actual crash than drivers of better-rated vehicles. The results of this study are consistent with those of similar studies done in the past.
