Abstract

In 1992, the installation of 30 CCATS traffic monitoring sensors, using image processing techniques, was completed on the Antwerp (Belgium) Ring Motorway. The installation is used for automatic traffic monitoring, primarily for congestion detection and location. The paper presents the results of the evaluation program set up as part of the ATT Euro-Triangle Project to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of this new tool. (A)
