The impact of fuel quality on the quality of motor cars and transport in general.

Abstract

In this paper the author discusses the need to improve fuel quality in line with the technological development of engines. Aspects of gasoline discussed include: a) volatility; b) the use of alcohol in gasoline blending; c) the adsorption of sulphur and silicium; and d) the build-up of deposits. Aspects of diesel fuel discussed include: a) engine noise; b) smoke; c) deposits; d) foaming during refuelling; and e) emissions. Cooperative initiatives being undertaken are noted.
