Abstract

The report updates a 1985 NHTSA analysis of the impact minimum drinking age laws have on the fatal crash involvements of affected drivers. This report utilizes fatal accident data through 1986, or a second law change in a state, whichever came first, for the 13 states included in the original analysis. With the additional data the estimated reduction in fatal crash involvements was 12%.
