Abstract

Many people worship the car. Their car is their status symbol. It encapsulates their personality and it clothes their ambitions. Others have reason to fear and hate motorised traffic. Total accidents, air pollution, trees are dying from the effects of ozone and carbon dioxide, and acid rain. Perhaps the 1990s will be the decade in which society's love affair with the motor car finally matures.
