Abstract

The PROMETHEUS PRO-GEN group has been studying the implementation aspects of Road Transport Telematic (RTT) systems (such as route guidance, traffic information, autonomous intelligent cruise control and automatic debiting) using scenarios and checklists. This paper presents the main implementation issues that need to be addressed to facilitate their introduction and allow the systems to reach their full potential. Demonstrator programmes, partnership ventures and the development of standards are suggested as helpful mechanisms through which the many difficult legal and institutional issues can be tackled. (A)
