Abstract

The purpose of this study concerns the whole processing procedures of implementation of ATIS (advanced traveller information systems), from raw traffic events collecting, data processing, data value adding, to real-time information broadcasting. The implemented system can distribute informationto the end travellers through digital audio broadcasting (DAB) system. A patent was obtained in which the developed position logic can transform the collected raw data from natural language into positioned traffic events, and the created filter can efficiently increase the data accuracy by eliminating duplicated traffic events. These events are transformed into XML data format for the DAB operators. Through on-board units (OBU) with the DAB receiver, the adaptive real-time positioned traffic events are served tothe on-road travellers with the dynamic network information, including congested roads, accidents, and working sections, etc. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
