Abstract

This study was conducted to identify factors limiting the application of known technology for making highways safer, and to develop strategies for achieving greater application. The basic premises postulated at the initiation of the study were: (1) that sufficient research-related knowledge currently exists concerning cost-effective measures capable of solving the problems; (2) that the application of this knowledge has lagged; and (3) that strategies could be developed to obtain support for the implementation of these proven programs.
