Abstract

The transport by road of dangerous goods can be characterized in terms of associated risks. Taking account of the experience gained in the field of transportation of radioactive materials, a methodology based on risk analysis can be used as a tool for reviewing existing requirements for the transport of dangerous goods. Specific examples for class 6.1, concerning the development of a danger index and the definition of exemption levels from regulatory requirements, are illustrated in this paper.
