Abstract

A traveller information system providing image and text based traffic information has been developed and installed at a location over the Korean Kyungbu expressway corridor for test operation. The system is characterised by the fact that both the traffic information fused at traffic management centre and the image based traffic information are available to expressway users, thereby he or she can modify his or her path and/or itinerary during the trip he or she is making. To expand the coverage and/or to improve the efficiency of the system proposed, a user survey has been conducted. It is to identify the satisfaction level provided by the system and the direction of the future desirable evolution of the system including the needed type of traffic information and possibility of providing traffic information on a fee basis.
