Abstract

This paper provides details on the implementation of home zones, and 30 km/h zones in the Netherlands. It is estimated that large-scale application of these measures could reduce the number of accidents by 15-20%. Integrated traffic safety plans for towns and cities, the use of mini roundabouts, and the cost of adapting urban infrastructure are discussed.
