Abstract

New risk models are analyzed with respect to their compatibility with action theories and their usefulness to help solving actual traffic related problems. The influence of values- like it is expressed by action theories stresses the importance of non traffic specific variables for the behaviour of traffic participants. It is suggested not to limit the concept of risk to the objective of traffic safety but extending it as well to other negative consequences of traffic, which are socially or ecologically dangerous.
