Abstract

This report documents the findings of a project to identify improved means to collect, manage, and use crash, inventory, traffic, and other data to design safer highways. Improved safety information is essential to making effective design decisions and formulating sound policies for the design of vertical and horizontal alignments, cross sections, roadside treatments, and traffic controls. The contents of this report are, therefore, of immediate interest to highway and facility designers and those concerned with systemwide safety improvement programs. (A)
