Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to study the urban transportation systems and their relationship to poverty in Nigeria, with a special focus on the situation in Lagos. The paper has shown that while poor and inefficient urban transportation may not be the major cause of poverty in Lagos metropolitan area, it is an aggravating factor. The French title of the paper is: "Amélioration du transport urbain pour réduire la pauvreté".
