Abstract

This paper presents a review of current practice in highway barrier design, with particular emphasis on cable barriers, and nrc experience in the development of a mathematical model of vehicle-barrier dynamics and the design of experiments to validate the model. The importance of a number of design details on barrier performance is discussed and related to other barriers in current use.
