Improvement of specialised medical care at road traffic accidents in the USSR.

Abstract

Approximately 10 million people are injured each year in road accidents in the USSR and 250 to 300.000 of them are killed. Pedestrians are the largest group among traffic victims (65, 4%), drivers represent 12, 5% and passengers 13, 3%. One third of all accident victims have a high blood alcohol level, the emergency medical care at the pre- hospital stage in the USSR, the level of expertise of ambulance teams and average transport time to the hospital are analyzed.
