Abstract

Researchers employed at the Roads and Traffic Authority of N.S.W. Australia have become aware that inadequate fitment of safety restraints was leading to deaths and injuries. A special road safety initiatives funding program created an opportunity to rectify this situation. The common restraint fitting problems were identified. An instruction manual and safety restraint accessories were developed to improve restraint fitting. Following proving of these safety restraint accessories in laboratory testing, NSW based companies were found to manufacture and market them.
