Abstract

There was a great need for traffic engineers at Kansas to improve traffic safety. So the Greater Southwest Regional Planning Commission (of Kansas) created a Regional Traffic Engineer position in 1976. The Regional Traffic Engineer is "on call "to all the local units, is governed by them, and is used by them. So a Regional Traffic Engineer is a means of providing expertise to rural Kansas. The different tasks of the Traffic Engineer in the traffic safety programme are given.
