Abstract

A mobility handicap can lead to considerable isolation and the inability to partake in many of life's social recreational and business activities. Typical problem areas for people with a mobility handicap include inability to use public transport, finding convenient parking for private transport, and negotiating the various footway and road surfaces, steps and stairways, ramps and road crossing points. In Victoria a balanced approach has been developed to improve transport for people with a mobility handicap.
