Abstract

Road accidents are due to a failure in the human road vehicle system and it is suggested that whilst human factors are most frequently found as contributing to accidents this may be due to tasks being too demanding. Examples are given of ways of changing behaviour and reducing accidents by operating on the visual, aural, and tactile and comfort improvements of the road user.
