Abstract

This paper describes the Norwegian incentive granting system. The system was introduced to promote development of cost effective transport for mobility handicapped people through local projects. A brief description of how transport for mobility handicapped people is organized and financed in Norway is given. The general purpose grantsscheme for distributing governmental grants is then explained. The feature of the incentive granting system is outlined, and some general comments as well as results experienced so far are summarized. Some changes in the system will come into effect from 1992. The background for and the aim of these changes are discussed.
