Abstract

As part of an ongoing research project evaluating onboard safety technologies, this report provides information about potential incentives that could expedite the deployment of onboard safety systems into the marketplace. The objective of this report is to outline possible efforts to “incentivize” – through either tools of government or private industry – the procurement and utilization of onboard safety technologies. The report describes the five major stakeholders highlighted in the onboard safety technology incentives matrix: technology manufacturers, truck original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), trucking companies, insurers, and government agencies.
