Abstract

The objective of the work described in this paper is to derive a new set of incident rates (incidents per million vehicle kilometres) for various types of motorway incident. A further objective is to identify if a relationship exists between incident rate and volume to capacity (V/C) ratio. At present, default incident rates are provided for use with INCA. However, it is postulated that the rate may vary according to the volume of traffic. (Author/publisher)
