Abstract

A side impact study carried out on a particular vehicle has been described and used as a case study to represent a methodology for incorporating side crahsworthiness in a new vehicle concept design. The paper shows its application in relation to the development cycle of a new model and how it substitutes for a detailed finite element method initially and subsequently complements it in the later stages.
