Abstract

RECENT INVESTIGATIONS HAVE SHOWN THAT AN AGGRAVATION IN TEST CONDITIONS MAY NOT JUST REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY, IT MAY EVEN INCREASE SUCH A RISK. THE EVALUATION OF ACTUAL ACCIDENT RESULTS CAN IN FACT BE APPLIED TO SHOW THAT, AS REGARDS THE RISK OF INJURIES DURING FRONT END ACCIDENTS, THE PRESENT VEHICLE POPULATION IS OPTIMALLY ATTUNED AND THAT ANY CHANGE MAY RESULT IN A CHANGE FOR THE WORSE.
