Abstract

Indicators in the sustainability assessment of mobility policy measures and traffic safety policy measures. Socio-economic evaluation methods, like the multi-criteria analysis and the multi-actor multi-criteria analysis rely on indicators to make different assessment criteria tangible during evaluations. The indicators can measure the possible impact of certain policy measures under a certain criterion. Previous reports presented multi-criteria analysis implementations for the sustainability assessment of mobility and traffic safety policy measures. This supplementary report presents a long list of sustainability indicators. The socio-economic evaluation methods can rely on the indicator long list for the evaluation of mobility and sustainability related policy measures. The long list is composed by different indicator sets, which were developed on Flemish, Federal and European governance level. The introducing chapter describes different functions of the indicators and frames the background of this supplementary report. The essential research question within this report is to identify a relevant long list of indicators, which can be meaningful in the sustainability assessment of mobility and traffic safety policy measures. Chapter 2 comprises a theoretical framework about the ‘indicator’ concept. Specific research questions regarding categories, trends, properties, etc. are handled in this chapter. Chapter 3 renders the sustainability indicator long list, based on individual indictor sets, which were developed on different governmental levels. The discussion of the different indicator tables is linked to aspects that were listed in the theoretical framework of the second chapter. Chapter 4 concludes the report with the eventual long list and discusses three types of headline indicator sets, to assist policy makers in the sustainability assessment of mobility and traffic safety policy measures.
