Abstract

The present wasteful character of our society can no longer be sustained. Development towards a sustainable society must be set in motion. However, within a sustainable society, people and goods have to move and be moved, in order that community, economic and social value can be maintained. Research has been carried out within an inter-faculty project group comprising industrial design, civil engineering and architecture, into a large number of aspects of the transportation of people and goods in that future sustainable society. The emphasis was on the development of an Individual Collective transportation system. In 1995 one student of the faculty of architecture and two of the faculty of industrial design graduated with a joint project looking at parts of such an Individual Public transportation system.
