Abstract

INDY : a new analytical multiclass dynamic traffic assignment model, TNO-FEL, TNO Inro and Delft University of Technology have jointly developed INDY, a new analytical multiclass dynamic traffic assignment model. For each user class, specific characteristics in terms of speed limits or route choice behaviour can be specified. INDY can deal with large networks with congestion faster than real-time and can accurately represent the locations of queues. This has been shown by the application of INDY to the network of the Dutch National Model (LMS). In the future, INDY will also be able to model blocking-back. Furthermore, it will be possible to determine the effects of a variety of Dynamic Traffic Management measures or certain tolls with INDY. (Author/publisher)
