Abstract

It has been shown that the predicted vehicle rolling motion depends on the manner in which the tyres are presented. Omission of tyre flexibility introduced errors of 10-20% for the specimen vehicle. It must be concluded therefore that the approximations involved in the representation of tyres solely in terms of slip angles can produce unacceptably large errors in the case of commercial vehicles.
