Some years ago the U.S.A. authorities dictated safety measures to be introduced into automobile construction. Manufactures and public were alarmed. In this article the author shows that the new requirements have left no outward mark. The two basic factors of an automobile are his architecture which is essentially, and his style, which is like a garment. For the future it will be necessary to design different forms of vehicles, built for travel on specific road networks. The future automobile will be boundless only if it is allow to retain its complete independence. As for the style the coach builder is not limited by making safe cars, he still can be creative. As for the architecture the automobile will be more comfortable and simple. Thanks to the regulations coach builders can break free from convention and search for more functionality and safety.
